The Fishing Chair

There are not that many important components to a days fishing, but the ones that are pretty essential are the fishing rod, fly/ bait, food and your fishing chair. Standing while fishing is okay for a period and so can sitting on a cold rock but if you are looking for comfort and a truly relaxing fishing session, you really need a decent chair for fishing. It isn't ideal, going out for the day to relax in one of your favorite pastimes and coming home that evening sore and stiff all over with any other pleasures sitting on a cold rock could bestow on you. You need to make the most out of the time you can find on the water.

There are many different types and styles of fishing chairs on the market today all with different features and levels of comfort. Your basic chair will do a good job and has the bonus of being light weight and will probably be that much cheaper also. There are, however, many chairs available with features such as cup holders, reclining back rests, coolers and pole supports. These features are of great assistance to your fishing experience and such features as the pole support mean it is that much easier to have a snack for instance without looking around you for a place to rest your fishing rod.

Some chairs also have umbrella supports, so you can keep the sun, or the rain as the case maybe, off your neck and back making you feel more comfortable. Padding is found on some brands of chairs and although it can add a little more weight to your chair, it can reap benefits for you if you plan a long day fishing.

So, what are the considerations to take into account when you are choosing to buy a fishing chair:

• Price: The cost of anything is a big factor for all of us, so if you decide to purchase a fishing chair you should first have a good idea how much you want to spend on it. There are many more upmarket models but there is absolutely nothing wrong with a simple chair.
• Weight: All of the extra features and accessories available are excellent but can come at a price and i am not just talking about their cost. All of these extras can add extra weight to the chair you are choosing and this can be a drawback if you have a long trek on foot to your favorite spot.
• Features: If it is the case where there is a specific extra such as a cooler you have your heart set on getting with your chair and you can't find it then shop around there are many, many different brands available, so shop around until you get what your looking for. You will always get what you want on the net, it just takes a little looking. There is no point on spending money on one chair that you are not really happy with and then finding the chair you were looking for two weeks later.
• Comfort features: If you have problems with your back or need a softer seat you are better off in purchasing a fishing chair with an adjustable back rest or padding.

These chairs can be used for many occasions other than fishing. They are ideal to take to a picnic, camping or a neighborhood barbecue. But my favorite use for the chair out of its fishing enviroment is definitely the more unusual location of the music festival, you will be the envy of all the damp revelers whos calf muscles ache from stooping on their honkers.
