The xbox 360 is one of the best (some will say the best) consoles on the market at the moment and one of the biggest sellers because of it's massive games library. One of the best features of the xbox 360 games is the online gameplay. There is a huge base of gamers playing 360 games on line with one of the most popular (without a doubt) being the Call of Duty series.

The only problem with 360 games is waiting for them to be released! Here are my top choices of the best 360 games to be released this year. Luckily the release dates are spread out enough to keep me going throughout the winter.

One of the wanted new xbox 360 games, call of duty modern warfare 3 is highly anticipated and with new levels (15 I think) and 20 multiplayer maps in development. Unfortunately Activision isn't giving much away and fans are waiting for any news they can get. COD is easily one of the most popular 360 games ever made and MW3 is bound to be a huge success.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 release date is 8th November 2011 and is already available for pre order from amazon so make sure you get your copy as soon as possible!

Another of the best 360 games Gears of War 3 release date is September 20 2011, just a few short weeks before COD MW3, plenty of time to finish it before october...

Another hugely popular video game, metal gear solid rising is due for release on November 1st. This is the first release of any of the Metal Gear games on the Xbox 360 and is something that fans of the series have been waiting for for some time. Players will play the main character Raiden who will be familiar to anyone who has played Metal Gear Solid 4. Rising has a slightly different method of gameplay that previous games in the series with more emphasis of action than espionage.

Unlike other popular games, Rising does not encourage the killing of other humans with the emphasis being on disabling enemies as is the standard for this series of games. While gameplay is free and the game is designed that players can do what they want, killing humans in the game is never rewarded, which makes this game stand out from others in the genre.

Okay, so I know this list is really about upcoming xbox games but since I wanted to include the best 360 games I just had to include L.A. Noire in the list even though it has just been released. It's one of the most anticipated releases of the year and it looks excellent. The game was initially thought to be only for the PS3 but thankfully it has been released on Xbox. Developed by team Bondi but published by Rockstar games the people behind games such as Grand Theft Auto, many people are expecting a GTA style game but L.A. Noire is not the same as the GTA series.

Gameplay - the game features a mix of mystery and problem solving with action as you play Cole Phelps and LAPD officer with ambition. It's set in 1947 and the game uses distinctive coloring to replicate the style used in film noir, hence the name. The plot is important to the game so expect a rich storyline and somewhat controlled gameplay.

Most gamers are familiar with the resident evil series of games and Operation Raccoon City actually takes place during the events that occur during Resident evil 2 and Nemesis. Players have a choice of characters and can play either a USS officer or member of the special ops task force. Raccoon city has been turned into a zombie town after an outbreak of a biological weapon developed by a pharmaceutical company.

Fans of RE will love the newest addition to the series on the Xbox, Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City release date is set for 31 December, too late for the Christmas market but is predicted to do well as fans of the series will be waiting for its release.

The return of the riddler! Play as the caped crusader who must save the residents of Gotham city from the threat of the riddler. Sequel to Batman Arkham Asylum, Arkham city is due for release October 18. New gadgets and capabilities and already familiar detective mode the game takes place one year after the events in Arkham Asylum, you play as Batman and complete the primary mission as well as other side missions and save the day and catwomans skin!
